The Slaves of Jedikiah
In this first story we meet the TP's for the first time. This is the only episode where the title sequence is different, and comes after we see Stephen breaking out as he runs through the London street market. This story set the scene for all future breakout stories and introduced us to the TP ideals as well as some unsavory alien characters. What I like most about this story is that the TP's forgive Cyclops for intruding into their lives by realising that he was only acting out of a sense of self preservation. Fracis De Wolf plays the TP's arch enemy Jedikiah to perfection although once he reveals himself as an oversized tin can (robot to you and me) the special effects department definitely let him down! After what is a brilliant build up this action packed adventure falls flat as the TP's stumble around the alien ship while the camera is shaken from side to side in a vein hope that the audience will be convinced of the severity of the situation. Still Ginge and Lefty's comedic performance as somewhat unbelievable thugs from a biker gang was convincing enough for me as a kid and gave this story line the hook I needed for a lifetimes fan adoration. This story shows Roger Price at his best; able to appeal to every child with his mix of action, comedy and sci-fi adventure... who knows next time I'm running through a street market it could just happen to me!
