Poor Peter Vaughan-Clarke from The Tomorrow people series is feeling a bit miserable at the moment because he just failed his driving test for the second time.

“I did badly on all the tricky manoeuvres such as turning in the road and reversing round corners,” he told me.

“Mind you, the day after the test was also a disaster - because, I, er, crashed my mum’s car! I was practising those three point turns, but in doing so, I went straight into the side of another car! The other driver wasn’t hurt or anything - in fact he didn’t even stop to look at the damage,” he said thankfully.

“Luckily I didn’t wreck mum’s car too badly, but nevertheless it’s going to cost me quite a bit of money to put it right. Still, Ma being the nice person she is wasn’t too cross about it.

“However, the first test I took went all wrong, too! I knocked a poor old lady off her bike. She was all right though, just a bit shaken up.

“Ah well, they say third time lucky, don’t they? So maybe I’ll pass next time, although I haven’t had a very good omen... You see I was filling in the necessary application form, while doing so, my mum’s shelves collapsed and all her best china fell on my head!”
