It’s certainly been a week for handsome men, because I also spent quite a while in the delightful company of Nick Young. Know who I mean? He’s John in the programme The Tomorrow People.

I found out that he’s an avid car fan, although that’s not all - for another of his hobbies is collecting personalised registration plates. He’s now the proud possessor of two cars (an old MG and a new TR6 ) and three special plates! He’s got ‘NY1’, ‘NJY1’ and ‘NIK1’. Fortunately he’s got all the possible variations of his initials now - and he didn’t have a very easy job tracking them down.

“Luckily, I’d always been interested in number plates,” said Nick, “and I became even more obsessed with them when I saw an ad in the paper from a man who was looking for ‘L2’. Well, I got onto him and we had a good old chat - and then to my amazement he told me that he owned ‘NY1’!

“We spent six months looking for ‘L2’, and became great friends - and when we finally found his ‘L2’, he kindly gave me ‘NY1’.
